2022 Adam Telle Memorial Endowed Scholarship Established by John Blue Company Awarded to New Recipient

The 2022 Adam Telle Memorial Endowed Scholarship in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Alabama at Birmingham has been awarded to Ethan Pickett.

The scholarship was established by John Blue Company after the sudden loss of one of their treasured employees, Adam Telle. The scholarship is open to deserving students who are enrolled in the Mechanical Engineering degree program at UAB and earned at least an overall 3.0 GPA.

Marty Gray, John Blue’s Chief Financial Officer, says, “Adam was an amazing young man who worked with John Blue Company as a Design Engineer for two years until a tragic car accident in 2012 took his life. It’s hard to believe ten years have passed since then. We set up the endowed scholarship so that it would continue to honor his legacy.”

Adam grew up in Hoover, Alabama, and attended Spain Park High School. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. After graduation, Adam began with John Blue Company where he had a promising career. Adam’s mother, Rebecca McCartha, says, “I am and will always be grateful to John Blue Company for giving Adam the opportunity to work with such a caring and compassionate company. The Memorial Endowed Award is a wonderful way to honor Adam’s legacy and the joy he brought to those who knew him.”

Back for its fifth year, our Women in Agriculture campaign is returning — and this year, in honour of our 20th anniversary and Women’s History Month, we’re spotlighting “Words from Women”, featuring insights and inspiration from all of our past participants.

Through this campaign, we celebrate the resilience, innovation, and leadership of women who are shaping the future of Ontario’s agricultural sector, from local food producers to environmental stewards across the Greenbelt.

We’re proud to continue uplifting women who are strengthening Ontario’s local food systems and inspiring the next generation of agricultural leaders.
