2nd OCA Replacement Female Sale Offers Over 90 Consignments On November 28

On Friday evening, November 28, the Ohio Cattlemen's Association will be hosting their second Replacement Female Sale. The sale will be held at the Muskingum Livestock facility located at 944 Malinda Street.in Zanesville and will begin at 7:00 p.m. This sale represents an excellent opportunity for anyone looking to add quality young replacement females to their herd.

Consignments include approximately 30 mature cows each less than five years of age, and approximately 60 bred heifers. These females are each bred to bulls with known EPD's and the calves at the side of the cows are sired by bulls with known EPD's. Pregnancy status of each female offered will be verified by an accredited veterinarian through traditional palpation, or ultrasound, or by blood testing through a professional laboratory. Each consignment will have also fulfilled the specific health requirements for the sale.

Here is a summary of the consignments for this year's sale:

Acheson Farm, Belle Center, OH; 10 Angus, Angus-Shorthorn, and crossbred bred heifers and 1 three-year old Angus cow due to calve between March 1 and June 12, 2015. One heifer is bred to the Maine-Anjou bull Breathe Easy and the remainder are bred to a Simmental-Angus bull that is a son of Optimus Prime.

Phil Altstaetter, Bellefontaine, OH; 4 Hereford-Angus and Angus-cross three-year-old cows with fall calves at side sired by the Red Angus bull SCC 9275 Bobby. Also selling 6 three-year-old Angus cows due to calve approximately March 15, 2015. 4 are bred to the Charolais bull WCR Sir Primecut 1263 P and the other 2 are bred to the Red Angus bull SCC 9275 Bobby.

Estadt Angus, Orient, OH; 3 Angus three and four-year-old Angus cows selling bred to the Angus bull EA NewDesign 5050 Z002. One will sell with a fall calf at side and two will calve after January 10, 2015.

Haley Farms, West Salem, OH; 3 purebred Simmental heifers bred to purebred Simmental bulls. One heifer is due in late December, 2014 and the other two are due in March, 2015.

H & R Farm, Cumberland, OH; 2 purebred Simmental heifers bred to Angus and Simmental bulls due in March and April, 2015 and a crossbred heifer bred to an Angus bull due in March, 2015.

Rachel Linder, Louisville, OH; A purebred Simmental heifer due to calve 2/24/14 to the purebred Simmental bull Nichols Manifest T79.

Maple Valley Farm, Hillsboro, OH; 2 crossbred females sired by Eye Candy and the Charolais bull Denver. Females are bred to Angus and Charolais bulls and are due in January and March, 2015.

MARS Angus, Mt. Vernon, OH; 8 Angus cross heifers due to calve between January 15 and May 19, 2015. Two of these heifers are artificially bred to the Angus bulls Connealy Comrade and Baldridge Workhorse and the remainder are bred to the Angus bull MARS Complete 2836. Also selling 6 purebred Angus cows due to calve between January 20 and February 27, 2015. 3 are bred artificially to the Simmental bull Uno Mas and three are bred to MARS Complete 2836.

Nobleland Farms, Caldwell, OH; 3 commercial Angus cows and 1 Shorthorn-Angus cow due to calve between January 4 and March 29, 2015. Two of the Angus cows are bred to the Charolais bulls WR Good Stuff and Superman. The other Angus cow is bred to the Kesslers Frontman. The Shorthorn-Angus cow is bred to the Maine-Anjou bull No Worries.

O'Connor Farms Limousin, Belle Center, OH; 12 purebred Limousin heifers bred to purebred Limousin bulls due in Mar.-May, 2015.

Rockin' W Cattle Co., Bellevue, OH; 1 Shorthorn heifer bred to the Shorthorn bull MAV Bellringer 804U due February 26, 2015. Selling one crossbred heifer bred to the Maine-Anjou bull I-80 due February 1, 2015 and three crossbred heifers due after March 25, 2015 to the Maine-Anjou-Angus bull Who's Hard. Also selling 6 Shorthorn and crossbred cows consisting of 5 two-year-olds and 1 four-year-old. These cows are due after March 25, 2015 to the Maine-Anjou-Angus bull Who's Hard.

The Ohio State University Beef Center, Columbus, OH; 15 Simmental-Angus heifers due to calve between April 5 and May 26, 2015. Also selling 2 two-year-old and 1 three-year-old Simmental-Angus cows due between May 10 and May 15, 2015. All females bred to the Angus Bull TOSU Hoover Dam 3331.

Wagner Cattle Co., Beverly, OH; 1 Angus heifer due to calve between April 1 and May 31, 2015 to the Angus bull Way View Confidence. Also selling a commercial Angus cow due to calve prior to sale day to Way View Confidence.
