ADM and Bacres Grain have reached a new marketing agreement that is expected to give southwestern Ontario farmers broader access to grain markets starting this fall.
Under the arrangement, ADM will purchase and market corn, soybeans and wheat delivered to the Bacres elevator in Alvinston, Ont., while Bacres Grain will continue to own and operate the facility. The deal takes effect in October and is aimed at expanding marketing options for local growers through ADM’s larger processing, logistics, and export network, according to a joint news release Monday.
For farmers delivering grain to the Alvinston elevator, the partnership is expected to open more pathways for sales both within Ontario and into international markets. Bacres Grain, which is managed by Group Solum, said the partnership builds on its longstanding focus on serving farmers in the region while adding the reach of one of the world’s largest grain companies.
“Partnering with ADM is something we’re genuinely proud of,” said Michaela Tessemaker, general manager, Group Solum. “Bacres Grain has always been committed to the farmers in this region, and this agreement is a direct extension of that. We’re expanding what we can offer, and we’re doing it alongside one of the strongest names in the grain business.”
Bacres Grain is a locally rooted elevator operated by third-generation farmers and focused on corn, soybean, and wheat handling in southwestern Ontario.
