The Travis County Master Gardeners will present “All About Roses” from 10 a.m.-noon Feb. 7 at the Zilker Botanical Garden, 2220 Barton Springs Road in Austin.

The Travis County Master Gardener program is a volunteer horticultural program supporting the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in Travis County.
The seminar is free, but park admission is $2 per adult, $1 per child or senior and $3 for non-Austin residents.
“At this program, attendees will learn how to incorporate user-friendly roses into new or existing garden plans,” said Daphne Richards, AgriLife Extension horticulturist for Travis County. “Cher Groody, who will provide program instruction, is a master gardener with 30 years of experience in the use of roses in a landscape.”
Richards said program content will include methods for proper selection of rose varieties, site preparation and maintenance, including pruning, and pest control and fertilization.
“This session is excellent for both newbies and experienced gardeners and questions are encouraged,” Richards said.
