Fields are still a little wet after the big rain on June 19th that came across south Georgia. South of Baxley received anywhere from 5-10″ of rain and north of Baxley received anywhere between 3-5″ of rain.
The sudden down pour has delayed herbicide applications as well as fungicide applications in peanuts. With the beneficial sunshine we have had this week has truly helped out several acres or otherwise we would have been looking at some lost acres due to drowning out. On the bright side of that heavy rain it has lifted some of the drought for all of south Georgia. See the Drought monitor Map below compared to the map in Porters article in the June Peanut Pointers.
