Bioindustrial Innovation Canada secures $6M to boost sustainability

Up to $6 million in government funds has been earmarked for Bioindustrial Innovation Canada (BIC), a not-for-profit business accelerator, to create opportunities and increase competitiveness towards a more sustainable future.

In a recent press release, the Ontario government announced the allocation of funds to the program through the AgriScience Program – Clusters Component, an initiative under the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership.

“This funding underscores our commitment to advancing technologies that will reduce greenhouse gas emissions and increase the value of Canadian agricultural products,” said Peter Fragiskatos, Member of Parliament, in the release. “Together, we are strengthening our agricultural sector and building a greener future.”

The Bioproducts Cluster, led by BIC, will develop specialized technologies to turn renewable resources, such as agricultural residues, into bioenergy, biofuels, and biomaterials like ethanol and biodegradable plastics.
