Carrington REC 2025 Foundation Seedstock Varieties

By David Copenhaver

The CREC Foundation Seedstock team started planting on April 24, 2025. Field work progressed as well as possible in between showers. The 51 rain day events, plenty of fog and about 18.50 inches of rainfall from April through September provided plenty of opportunity for the potential of plant disease. This made for a busy spray season.

Here is an update on the status of foundation grade seed stocks available at the Carrington Research Extension Center. With seed conditioning in progress, we will be able to offer you a wide range of varieties for this spring.

Our inventory will feature three new varieties. NDSU has two more new wheats released from Dr. Andrew Green’s wheat program and the North Dakota Crop Improvement and Seed Association has a new barley from Canada released by SeCan
