Dairy Farmers of Canada congratulates the new Liberal government

Dairy Farmers of Canada (DFC) congratulates Prime Minister Carney and the Liberal party on winning the election. DFC also extends its congratulations to Mr. Poilievre and the Conservative party for forming the official opposition, and to all party leaders for a hard-fought campaign.

DFC appreciated that the leaders of all of Canada's major political parties voiced their support for Canadian dairy farmers during the campaign by committing to keep supply management off the table in any future negotiations with the U.S.

Given the current global uncertainty, it has never been more important for Canadians to be reassured that our domestic food production is robust.

We look forward to working together with the Prime Minister and all parties in defense of our nation’s food security and sovereignty at this crucial time, ensuring that dairy and other essential foods are made by Canadians, for Canadians.
