By Fran tenBensel Benne

he University of Nebraska–Lincoln, with support from the Nebraska Soybean Board, invites educators from across Nebraska to attend the 2026 Soybean Science Institute July 7-8 and July 14-16 at the Eastern Nebraska Research, Extension and Education Center near Ithaca.

This multi-day program is designed to equip middle and high school teachers with knowledge and resources to integrate soybeans into cross-curricular learning and highlight the impact of science, math, economics and agriculture in the classroom.

In its sixth year, the program explores soybeans as a system with the assistance of experts from the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, the Nebraska Soybean Board and local teacher leaders. Teachers will be able to collaborate across disciplines, connect college- and career-ready standards to real-world learning and leave with ready-to-use lesson plans and tools.

This program also spreads awareness of why soybeans are grown in Nebraska and connected career pathways.

A $1,050 full-attendance stipend, $250 lesson plan implementation bonus and classroom resources and supplies are available.

The deadline to apply is May 15. Priority is given to cross-curricular teams. Apply now as spots fill quickly.
