AGCO Names Jeff Coffey as the 2025 Operator of the Year

AGCO (NYSE: AGCO), a global leader in the design, manufacture and distribution of agricultural machinery and precision ag technology, announced Jeff Coffey of Helena Ag Enterprises in Central Illinois as its 2025 Operator of the Year. The annual award, presented at the Agricultural Retailers Association (ARA) Annual Conference & Expo, honors application professionals for their skills, dedication and service to farmers and local communities.

The Operator of the Year contest recognizes the vital role that professional applicators play in sustainable farming. These individuals help boost yields, support local economies and contribute to feeding a growing world. AGCO’s program celebrates those who demonstrate exceptional agronomic skills, professionalism and a commitment to both their customers and their communities.

Jeff Coffey’s journey began in Central Illinois, where his father managed a fertilizer plant. After graduating high school, Jeff joined the business, quickly establishing himself as a reliable and skilled operator. Over his 47 years in the industry, he’s become known for his meticulous care of equipment, willingness to help younger operators and readiness to tackle any job without complaint. Jeff’s impact extends beyond his organization, and he’s active in local events and is always ready to lend a hand to his community.

When asked what makes his job rewarding, Jeff says, “I just like working with the farmers. Their operations are their livelihood, and I respect what they do so I want to do a good job.” His commitment to service and quality is evident in everything he does, both on and off the field. In his free time, Jeff enjoys camping and boating, reflecting his appreciation for the outdoors.

Upon receiving the Operator of the Year award, Jeff shared his respect for the other finalists,  Adam Petermann of Aurora Cooperative in Doniphan, NE, and John Berken of GreenPoint Ag in Roanoke, LA, and expressed excitement to learn about their very different operations. Coffey also called out AGCO and ARA as “great organizations that help retailers spread smart practices that benefit application professionals, farmers and our communities.”
