AGCO's PTx Trimble Wins Fast Company's World Changing Ideas Award for OutRun Autonomous Grain Cart Solution

AGCO, a global leader in the design, manufacture and distribution of agricultural machinery and precision ag technology, announced that its PTx Trimble brand has received Fast Company's World Changing Ideas Award for its innovative OutRun autonomous grain cart solution. The award honors products, concepts, companies and policies that are designed to make the world safer, cleaner and more sustainable. OutRun's retrofit autonomous capability offers farmers an effective solution to labor shortages and rising costs, ultimately contributing to increased farm profitability and enhanced sustainability.

OutRun, which also won the prestigious Davidson Prize from ASABE earlier this year, is a retrofit kit that transforms existing row crop tractors into autonomous machines currently targeting grain cart operation during harvest. This unique approach allows for continuous harvesting even during periods of labor scarcity while providing more flexibility in deploying labor. OutRun is currently compatible with John Deere 8R or 8000R tractors with IVT and will be commercially available on Fendt® models in 2026. OutRun will support other brands and models in the future, offering a versatile and cost-effective solution for a wide range of farming operations.

"Our vision is to be the trusted partner to farmers for industry-leading, smart farming solutions, and this award is just one proof point our talented team of innovators is delivering on that promise," said Eric Hansotia, Chairman, President and CEO. "OutRun is one of the many precision ag solutions we offer farmers to improve farm operations, profitability and efficiency. We are proud of how it might change farmers' worlds as they work tirelessly to help feed it."

PTx Trimble plans to expand OutRun's capabilities beyond harvesting. Future applications will encompass other essential farming tasks, such as tillage, leveraging the same autonomous platform for both spring and fall land preparation. This expansion will further enhance the system's value and solidify PTx's position as an innovative solutions provider in precision agriculture.
