Fifth On-Farm PED Case Comes Back Negative

Manitoba Pork has some good news about the province's fifth on-farm case of Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea virus (PEDv).

Chair Karl Kynoch says the province's Chief Veterinary Officer (CVO) has reversed its positive finding on a tissue sample from a nursery-finisher site in southeast Manitoba in late September.

The CVO has gathered sufficient evidence to conclude that the swine premise was negative for PEDv during the time period when the initial samples were submitted.

The PEDv source of the positive test from the site is unknown.

The province is continuing to investigate.
