Miss Rodeo Agribition 2026 to be crowned at Maple Leaf Finals Rodeo

Three ladies are vying for the title of Miss Rodeo Agribition 2026.

Sunny Schutte, Grace Pain, and Shylah Sitter participated in the horsemanship aspect of the competition on Tuesday and public speaking on Wednesday.

The three contestants then answered questions from reporters Wednesday morning. One question was what inspired them to take part in the competition.

For Schutte, it started years ago when she was in the eighth grade when she attended an event and saw someone carry the Canadian flag "in this beautiful, sparkly shirt."

"Right then and there, I was like, 'Mom, I want to do that one day. I want to be her one day.' And so I carried my first title in 2023 as Miss Saskatchewan High School Rodeo. And now that has led me here to compete for my first Canadian Pro Rodeo title as Miss Rodeo Agrobition. And it's just been a total dream come true to just be here and a part of this experience.” said Schutte.

For Sitter, she loves all things rodeo, agriculture, and Saskatchewan.

"There's no other way that I would have it. Most of my family is from Saskatchewan," said Sitter. "I live out on a farm and I honestly love agriculture quite a bit. I love rodeoing, and I worked on a feedlot for quite a while and got to get the feel for some more livestock part of it. And I loved it. I didn't think it was going to be my thing, but I quite loved it. And then I was like, 'why not? You only live once.' And then once I started, I was like, absolutely. I love it. I love it. I'm so excited to represent Saskatchewan and Canadian (Western) Agribition. I'm very excited to begin this.”

Meet Willy: California Farm Bureau’s 2025 Farm Dog of the Year!

We’re excited to introduce Willy, a miniature long-haired dachshund with a big heart and even bigger courage, and the Grand Prize winner of this year’s Farm Dog of the Year Contest!

Willy may be small, but he’s become an indispensable partner on owner Marshal Hagedorn’s forestry and cattle operations in Shasta, Tehama, and Siskiyou counties. Adopted in 2023, he quickly found his place on the ranch, helping manage critters, tagging along for long days in the woods, and offering unwavering companionship during demanding logging work.

Willy has even taken naturally to moving cattle, surprising calves (and more than a few full-grown cows!) with his burst of energy from the tall grass. As Marshal put it: “He goes with me everywhere every single day.”

Congratulations to Willy and his family, a perfect example of how every good farm dog, no matter the size, helps keep California agriculture running strong.
