Mossbank Area Farmer Named Recipient of 2026 Farm & Food Care Champion Award

A Mossbank, Saskatchewan area farmer, agriculture advocate, public speaker and corporate director has been named the recipient of the 2026 Farm & Food Care Champion Award. Each year, the Farm & Food Care Saskatchewan Champion Award recognizes a recipient who has engaged consumers about agriculture and worked to build public trust in farming and food in Saskatchewan and beyond.

Farm & Food Care Saskatchewan Executive Director Clinton Monchuk says the award showcases individuals who have done a measurable job of getting out to the public and ensuring that they understand the practices that go into producing food and has been presented annually since Farm and Food Care Saskatchewan's establishment in 2014, so this is the 11'th presentation.

Quote-Clinton Monchuk-Farm & Food Care Saskatchewan:

This year it was won by Cherilyn Jolly-Nagel, who farms down by Mossbank, Saskatchewan. She has just done an absolutely excellent job in promoting agriculture.
She's been an advocate, a public speaker. She also sits on a couple of different corporate boards and she's done an excellent job talking to people about the food system and just agriculture in general. She's a fourth-generation farmer. She's been involved with different international organizations and different provincial and national organizations here in Canada.

Cherilyn is an individual who speaks lots. She's definitely well known in the Saskatchewan agriculture world. She's a guest speaker, an emcee at events.
She's also a Neufeld scholar as well so she's taking some of that information internationally as well. She has gone above and beyond to make sure that people understand the practices farmers are doing here in Saskatchewan. And, she's done a great job on talking about the benefits of agriculture, along with all the different technologies that farmers and ranchers use.So, a great opportunity to present Cherilyn with the award and glad she received it.

Learning to Wrench From Dad the Hard Way

Video: Learning to Wrench From Dad the Hard Way

Harvest is a week out and the farm picked this week to fall apart. The truck needs a battery, the barn curtain's got a problem, and the corn and beans are telling us we're out of time to get it all fixed.

So it's a full day of wrenching. Tork supervises while I get the truck back running, then we're out at the hog barn where one rusted up part has the whole curtain system hung up. Ladder work, cable work, and a little dad-and-son disagreement about the right way to do it. We close it out walking the fields, shelling beans and checking corn, because whether everything's fixed or not, harvest starts when harvest starts.
