North Dakota Sheep Producers to Host Convention in Medora

The North Dakota Lamb and Wool Producers Association (NDLWPA) will hold its 2025 annual convention Oct. 3-4 at the Rough Riders Hotel in Medora, North Dakota.

The convention, in partnership with North Dakota State University Extension, will bring together producers, researchers, industry experts and youth for two days of networking, learning and celebration of the sheep and lamb industry. With a theme centered on innovation and collaboration, the event will feature a dynamic schedule of activities, educational sessions and a special youth program.

Golf enthusiasts can join for a golf tournament on Friday, Oct. 3, at 10 a.m. at Bully Pulpit, and the convention events begin at 5:30 p.m. with a youth-focused sheep reproduction demonstration, a social and a fundraiser auction.

At a time when disease pressure continues to challenge pork production systems across the United States, vaccination remains one of the most valuable and heavily debated tools available to veterinarians and producers.

Speaking at the 2025 Four Star Pork Industry Conference in Muncie, Indiana, Dr. Daniel Gascho, veterinarian at Four Star Veterinary Service, encouraged the industry to return to fundamentals in how vaccines are selected, handled and administered across sow farms, gilt development units and grow-finish operations.

Gascho acknowledged at the outset that vaccination can quickly become a technical and sometimes tedious topic. But he said that real-world execution, not complex immunology, is where most vaccine failures occur.
