OGVG appoints new research, innovation and plant protection lead

Ontario Greenhouse Vegetable Growers (OGVG) has appointed Daniel Terlizzese as the new Research, Innovation & Plant Protection Lead. He brings a wealth of experience and expertise in greenhouse crop management, plant physiology, and innovative agricultural practices.

Terlizzese holds a Master of Science in Environmental Science from the University of Guelph, where he conducted significant research on the light environment within greenhouse vegetable crops and the effects of supplemental light photoperiod on greenhouse eggplant. His academic background is complemented by a Bachelor of Science in Biological Science from the same institution.

In his previous roles, he has demonstrated exceptional skills in managing greenhouse crop growth and yield, collaborating with universities and research centers, while communicating scientific results effectively. His recent position as an agronomist at Sollum Technologies involved enhancing crop growth and yield through dynamic LED lighting and collaborating on novel research projects.

Part of his extensive experience includes positions at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, where he managed greenhouse crop growth and conducted plant physiological measurements, and Great Lakes Greenhouses, where he designed research trials to improve crop production. His work has been recognized at various conferences, including the Canadian Greenhouse Conference, where he won first prize in the 2023 student poster competition.

“We are thrilled to welcome Daniel to our team,” said Richard Lee, executive director at OGVG. “His innovative approach and dedication to advancing greenhouse vegetable production align perfectly with our mission to support and enhance the industry. We are confident that Daniel’s leadership will drive significant advancements in our research and plant protection initiatives.”
