GUELPH – With BBQ season in full swing, Ontario Pork is bringing free pork sampling events to every Fortinos Supermarket location across Ontario. It’s a chance to connect directly with consumers and highlight the quality of Ontario-raised pork.
“We are excited to partner with Fortinos to showcase pork raised right here in Ontario,” said Tara Terpstra, Ontario Pork Board Chair. “It is a delicious, high-quality protein that is easy to cook and enjoy at home.”
The events will take place at all 24 Fortinos stores located across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), a region home to more than 7 million people. Shoppers will be invited to sample Fortinos Signature Mild Italian Sausage and Sweet Stinger Sausage; both made with 100 percent Ontario pork.
“Fortinos is committed to offering great food, fair prices, and outstanding service,” said Nick Chirichella, Director of Meat Merchandising at Fortinos. “We’re proud to use pork raised by Ontario farmers because we know it’s fresh, high-quality, and supports the local economy.”
These sampling events offer a unique opportunity to speak directly with consumers about where their food comes from, how pork is raised in Ontario, and how to cook it so it turns out juicy, tender, and full of flavour.
Free tastings will run every weekend outside Fortinos stores from now until Sunday, August 31. As part of Ontario Pork’s broader summer marketing campaign, the events highlight the versatility of pork and give shoppers a chance to discover new favourites made with local ingredients.
“Fortinos is a leading grocery retailer with some of the busiest stores in the GTA, and they’ve shown strong support for sourcing locally raised food” said Brett Leslie, Digital Lead at Ontario Pork. “These outdoor events are a great way to celebrate local food, grill up Ontario-raised pork, and have face-to-face conversations with shoppers.”
New this year, all pork products sold at Fortinos that are raised by Ontario farmers will carry the Ontario Pork checkmark logo. This label helps shoppers easily identify and choose local options.
The next free pork sampling event will be held Saturday, July 19 at the Fortinos store at 55 Mountain Ash Road in Brampton.
