Halenda’s Fine Foods earns the competition’s top Diamond award, while Ontario pork processors capture honours across bacon, sausage and specialty meat categories.

Ontario’s meat processing sector celebrated craftsmanship, innovation and product quality at the 2026 Ontario’s Finest Meat Competition, with several pork products earning top honours at Meat & Poultry Ontario’s annual Awards Gala on October 3.

The competition featured 12 categories encompassing fresh sausage, bacon, deli meats, smoked specialties, dry and semi-dry products, salumi and charcuterie, premium wieners and, for the first time, jerky.

J & G Quality Meats Named Best Pork Product

One of the night’s major pork industry honours went to J & G Quality Meats, which received the 2026 Best Pork Product Award, sponsored by Ontario Pork.

Its Mexican Street Corn Sausage achieved the highest score among all pork entries in the competition and also earned the Platinum award in the Fresh Sausage – Pork category.

Halenda’s Fine Foods Claims Overall Diamond Award

Halenda’s Fine Foods Ltd. captured the competition’s highest individual product honour with its Stuffed Iberico Back Bacon, earning the title of Ontario’s Finest Meat 2026 Diamond Winner.

The Diamond distinction is awarded to the single meat or poultry product receiving the highest overall score across all competition categories.
