Monthly videos highlight pork research innovations and industry solutions

Canada’s pork industry is gaining a valuable new resource with the expansion of the Pork Research Hub’s educational content. A new video series has been introduced to help producers, industry members, and the public better understand the research and innovation shaping modern pork production.

The Pork Research Hub serves as a bilingual online platform that brings together research findings, practical information, innovation stories, and educational resources in one easy-to-access location. The platform aims to make scientific information more available and useful for people involved in the pork sector.

The newly launched video series focuses on research projects that help address important challenges facing the industry. Each episode highlights a different project and provides insight into the researchers, partnerships, and innovations working to improve pork production in Canada.

The first video in the series explores precision feeding research. This approach uses advanced feeding systems to provide pigs with the nutrients they need more efficiently. The goal is to lower feed costs, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and improve the overall sustainability of pork farming. Such innovations can help producers strengthen productivity while supporting environmental goals.

“Research is only valuable if people can discover it, understand it and apply it,” said Daniel Ramage, General Manager of Swine Innovation Porc. “The Pork Research Hub was created to make Canadian pork research more accessible, and the Research in Action section brings that research to life. This video series is another way we’re showcasing the practical impact of Swine Cluster 4 and the researchers helping deliver solutions for producers.”

New episodes will be released every month, offering viewers a closer look at ongoing research efforts and the people leading them. The videos will also be available in both English and French, ensuring that information can reach a wider audience across Canada.

The initiative is connected to a long-term national research program that supports collaboration among researchers, industry partners, and producers. The program focuses on finding practical solutions to key challenges affecting the pork sector and helping farms remain competitive and sustainable.
