Producers to discuss real-world impact of testing and validating agtech at Agriculture Enlightened

Farmers know farming best which is why the AIVA Network works with Canadian farmers to test and validate agtech and bring proven solutions to market. From validation hubs that operate on fully operational commercial farms, to farmer alliance members who provide structured feedback on market-ready technologies, this AIVA Network panel at Agriculture Enlightened will share perspectives on how testing and validating technology in real world conditions has real world impact.
Carl Havixbeck is a farmer network success manager with AIVA Network. He has worked in the agricultural sector in Manitoba for over 30 years. His passion for agriculture started as a young boy on a family farm in Rosser, MB. After completing a certificate in diesel mechanics at Red River College, and then an agribusiness degree from the University of Manitoba, Carl began his farming career.

Stepping away from the farm after 10 years, Carl began serving farmers directly within many different businesses and roles in the agricultural industry. Through these roles, Carl was exposed to many elements of digital agriculture, and developed a strong appreciation for agtech and the value it can provide farmers.

Holly Johnson is a technical sales agronomist at Pitura Seeds. Holly grew up on a grain farm, and her passion for agriculture developed into a desire to help farmers improve their profitability. As a technical sales agronomist with Pitura Seeds, Holly shares agronomic insights and advises the farm team on agronomy-related topics throughout the planning and in-field seasons. Additionally, she supports a group of farm customers in seed decisions and other opportunities to benefit their businesses.

Rick Rutherford is president of Rutherford Farms, a 5,500-acre seed farm at Grosse Isle near Winnipeg, and another at Gypsumville in Manitoba’s Interlake. He has had a long interest in collecting data, and his farm at Grosse Isle is one of two locations for EMILI’s Innovation Farms powered by AgExpert.
