SDSU Extension Welcomes New Livestock Production and Stewardship Field Specialist

South Dakota State University Extension is pleased to welcome Paige Madison as a new Livestock Production and Stewardship Field Specialist.

In her role, Madison will assess the needs of the South Dakota beef industry related to production and stewardship and build educational materials and programs to help meet those needs. She is based in Mitchell.

She is also the new Beef Quality Assurance Coordinator for South Dakota and will host BQA certification trainings for producers. She hopes to increase the number of certified producers in the state.

“I am excited to meet new people who are involved in the beef industry throughout the state of South Dakota,” Madison said. “I look forward to being a resource for producers and hope to help them improve their operations.”

Madison grew up in Minnesota, where she was an active participant in 4-H and FFA in various project areas. As a 4-H alumna, she has earned an Extension Experience award through the University of Nebraska-Lincoln due to her numerous volunteer efforts, including as a livestock and premier showmanship judge.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in animal science and agricultural science with minors in ranch management, agricultural business and equine studies from SDSU, and a master’s in animal science with a focus in ruminant nutrition from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
