The second session of the 2014 Greenhorn Grazing series in Chariton offers timely information on electric fencing technology and pasture weed and brush management, according to Iowa State University Extension and Outreach beef program specialist Joe Sellers.
“Speakers from NRCS, Dow AgroSciences and Gallagher USA will join ISU ag engineer program specialist Shawn Shouse to present sessions in the morning and help lead pasture tour segments in the afternoon,” Sellers said. “Shawn will talk about watering systems for grazing livestock and I’ll focus on fescue renovation out in the field.”
At this July 15 event, four topic sessions are set for the morning, followed by lunch. The afternoon pasture tour includes three topics. See the session flyer for details.
The day runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., beginning with workshops in the meeting room of the ISU McNay Research Farm, located southwest of Chariton at 45249 170th Ave. Lunch is included in the $15 per person fee. Please preregister by calling the Lucas County Extension office at 641-774-2016.
