Federal and provincial funding is helping to attract major economic investment, create jobs and boost growth in the value-added agri-food sector.
GDE Grocery Delivery E-Services Canada Inc., commonly known as HelloFresh, has received conditional approval for an Agri-Processing Investment Tax Credit (APITC) of up to $2.3 million for its investment in a new state-of-the-art agri-food processing facility in Calgary.
The company was also awarded a grant of up to $1.3 million through the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership (Sustainable CAP) Emerging Opportunities Program, which supports projects focused on innovation, company growth and sector impact.
“The federal government is committed to supporting innovation and investment across Canada’s agri-food sector, so we can get more of our high-quality Canadian product on kitchen tables. By partnering with Alberta to encourage initiatives like this leading-edge processing facility, we’re helping to create quality jobs, drive economic growth, and increase the resiliency of our food supply.”
Heath MacDonald, federal Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food
“Alberta’s competitive advantages attract expansion that strengthens the entire value-added chain, from family farms and smaller producers to large-scale processors and major industry players. This means a more resilient food-processing industry and an even stronger reputation for Alberta as one of the best places to do business.”
Tara Sawyer, Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation
