New US subsidiary strengthens support for precision farming growth

Rometron has announced the launch of WEED-IT USA, a new subsidiary based in Wellington, Colorado, focused on supporting the growing demand for precision spraying technology across the United States. The move represents an important step in the company’s international growth plans and highlights its commitment to serving American farmers with local expertise, service, and support.

The new subsidiary will help expand the reach of WEED-IT precision spraying and spot-spraying systems. These technologies use real-time optical weed detection to identify weeds and apply herbicides only where needed. This targeted approach helps farmers reduce chemical use, lower production costs, improve operational efficiency, and support sustainable farming practices.

According to the company, the United States is a key agricultural market with strong opportunities for advanced farming technologies. By establishing a dedicated U.S. operation, Rometron aims to strengthen relationships with growers, dealers, and industry partners while providing better customer support.

“The United States is one of the world’s most important agricultural markets and presents significant opportunities for precision spraying technology,” said Roel de Jonge, owner of Rometron. “With WEED-IT USA, we are making a long-term investment in the growers, dealers and partners who are helping advance more efficient and sustainable farming practices.”

The launch of WEED-IT USA builds on the foundation created by AgriTech America, which helped introduce WEED-IT technology to American farmers and expand its adoption. The companies will continue working together to support customers during the transition and ensure uninterrupted service.

As part of the new organization, Doug Daws has been appointed General Manager of WEED-IT USA. He brings more than 30 years of experience in agricultural equipment and precision agriculture. Throughout his career, Daws has held leadership positions with major companies, including Caterpillar, AGCO, CNH Industrial, and Trimble.

“We are proud of the work AgriTech America has done to introduce WEED-IT technology to growers in the United States,” said Adam Hutton, owner of AgriTech America. “The formation of WEED-IT USA is a positive next step for customers and for the continued growth of this technology. We look forward to working closely with Rometron and WEED-IT USA to support growers through this transition and into the future.”

The company plans to expand local technical expertise and customer resources while maintaining strong support for existing dealers and users. Current customers will continue receiving assistance through their established contacts as operations develop in Colorado.

Rometron believes the creation of WEED-IT USA will help accelerate the adoption of precision agriculture technologies across the country. By combining innovative weed detection systems with local service and support, the company aims to help growers improve productivity, reduce input costs, and achieve long-term sustainability goals.
