Winkler To Host Agriculture Event

Scotiabank in Winkler will be hosting a free informational lunch on Friday, February 24 in celebration of the first ever Canada Agriculture Day, which was held last week.

Small Business Advisor Pete Becker says they're hoping to attract about 50 people at the Winkler Library starting at noon.

He notes there will be about half a dozen speakers covering a wide range of topics including grain, livestock, and finance. Winkler Mayor Martin Harder will be saying a few words along with Jim Wilson of Wilson Seeds, who is a former member of the Canadian Wheat Board. University of Manitoba Professor Garrett Sawatzky will also address the crowd, in addition to some presentations on commercial finance.

"We're looking forward to it and just giving our appreciation back to agriculture and the community because they are such an important role," said Becker.
