Wisconsin Soybean Marketing Board to Celebrate Soy-Based Innovation with Fitchburg Fire Department

Innovation powered by Wisconsin soybeans is helping protect local communities. The Wisconsin Soybean Marketing Board (WSMB) invites the media to the Fitchburg Fire Department to celebrate the donation of a pallet of soy-based firefighting foam from Cross Plains Solutions, a developer of the product.

“This partnership shows how Wisconsin soybeans can help protect both people and the planet,” said Jonathan Gibbs, WSMB president. “We’re proud to support the Fitchburg Fire Department and demonstrate how agriculture is fueling new solutions for our communities.”

The March 25th event will highlight how Wisconsin-grown soybeans are powering innovative, sustainable solutions across industries — including firefighting technology. SoyFoam offers a renewable, environmentally friendly PFAS-free alternative to traditional petroleum-based products.

“This product will allow us to respond to events in a much safer and environmentally favorable way,” said Scott Sarver, Fitchburg fire chief. “This local innovative initiative is what the national fire service has been looking for years.”

WSMB funded the donation through the state’s soybean checkoff program, which invests in research, market development, and education to expand the use of soy in new products and industries.

The Fitchburg Fire Department was selected as the lucky recipient through a WSMB SoyFoam campaign earlier this year.
