Spade Technologies expands into Manitoba, strengthening agricultural innovation and dairy intelligence solutions.
Spade Technologies, an AI-first software company developing intelligence infrastructure for the dairy sector, has announced that it will establish its Canadian headquarters in Manitoba with support from SVG Ventures | THRIVE, a global agrifood innovation and investment platform.
The move will create an initial Manitoba-based team and make the province the company’s operational centre for Canada.
Spade plans to use the new headquarters as a launch point for expanding across the North American dairy market, while contributing to Manitoba’s growing agricultural technology and innovation ecosystem.
The company said Manitoba will serve as the base for its Canadian commercial growth. Spade will initially work with dairy producers and processors in the province before expanding its services nationwide.
Its Manitoba operations will also support business development in Minnesota, Wisconsin and the Dakotas, a major dairy-producing region in the north-central United States.
“Manitoba is the right home for our Canadian headquarters. It sits at the centre of a dairy corridor that stretches across the western provinces and into the north-central United States, and it has an innovation ecosystem built for exactly the kind of work we do," said Scott Woodside, Chief Executive Officer, Spade Technologies.
"Establishing a permanent presence here and building a strong local team reflects our long-term commitment to Canada and to growing AgTech capacity in the province. We’re excited to grow alongside Manitoba’s dairy industry and innovation ecosystem.”
As part of its expansion, Spade intends to collaborate with Manitoba’s agrifood innovation community.
The company plans to work with the Enterprise Machine Intelligence & Learning Initiative and Innovation Farms to test and validate its AI-powered dairy intelligence and forecasting solutions under Canadian production conditions.
It also plans to join the EMILI-led AIVA Coalition, which promotes wider use of artificial intelligence across agriculture.
“We’re focused on backing exceptional founders early and helping them build market-leading companies," said John Cassidy, Managing Director, Canada, Svg Ventures | Thrive.
"The continued support of partners such as Farm Credit Canada, our anchor investor, and the Manitoba First Fund enables investments like this—connecting innovative founders with customers, capital, and commercial opportunities while strengthening Canada’s leadership in agricultural innovation.”
