Chris Perry participated in two sessions

Canadian agriculture is represented at the World Economic Forum through an Alberta farmer.

Chris Perry, a potato farmer from Coaldale, revealed on LinkedIn he received an invitation from PepsiCo to participate in the event in Davos, Switzerland.

In October 2025, PepsiCo launched the Global Farmer Awards, which Perry and his brother Harold won.

While in Davos, the fourth-generation farmer is participating in two sessions.

One is the “Partners in Possibility: Collaborating for Resilient Food Systems” panel, with representatives from PepsiCo, banking, and other industries.

“This discussion will focus on how collaboration across farmers, brands, finance, and policy can move solutions from pilots to true infrastructure,” Perry said on LinkedIn.

Perry also joined other producers for PepsiCo’s signature event in Davos, “Farmers First: Scaling a More Resilient Food System.”

In addition to Perry, a French rapeseed farmer, and a third-generation corn farmer from Brazil engaged in conversation putting farmers at the centre of it.

“What makes this panel special is the intent behind it: to listen first. To acknowledge what works, what doesn’t, and how we strengthen collaboration to scale what is already proving itself on farms around the world,” Perry’s LinkedIn post says.

An Alberta ag industry group is pleased a Canadian farmer is in Davos to discuss agriculture and its opportunities.

“Very excited to hear that Alberta's own potato grower Chris Perry from Perry Family Farm invited to speak at the World Economic Forum in Switzerland this week with panel discussions on collaborating and partnering with major businesses and including farmers at the centre of the conversation for a more resilient food system,” Potato Growers of Alberta said in a Facebook post.

Before trade and tariffs dominated the conversation, taxation was one of the biggest issues on farmers’ minds last year. From the carbon tax to capital gains, OFA worked with the Canadian Federation of Agriculture and provincial partners to push for fair, practical solutions. We saw progress on carbon tax relief and capital gains, and we continue to advocate for modernized farm tax programs at both the provincial and federal levels.
