International symposium focuses on farm health and safety in Saskatoon
The Canadian Agricultural Safety Association is set to co-host the Safety and Health in Agricultural and Rural Populations international symposium in Saskatoon from June 16 to 18 2026. The event will bring together experts from across the world to discuss ways to improve health and safety in rural and farming communities.
The symposium is being organized in partnership with the University of Saskatchewan’s Canadian Centre for Rural and Agricultural Health and the International Society for Agricultural Safety and Health. It aims to create a platform for researchers industry leaders and innovators to share ideas and develop better safety practices for agriculture.
The theme of the event is Partnering for Success. It highlights the importance of working together to improve outcomes for farmers farm workers and their families. The program will include expert talks practical workshops networking sessions and guided tours offering participants a chance to learn and connect with others in the field.
Key topics at the symposium will include farmer mental health respiratory risks safety practices in farming operations and the role of community engagement. Discussions will also focus on protecting children in agricultural settings and addressing new challenges affecting rural populations.
“Progress in agricultural and rural health and safety doesn’t happen in isolation, but rather it grows from shared knowledge, open dialogue, and learning from one another,” said Sandra Miller, CASA’s Executive Director.
