Four of the five items that sold for the highest prices were combines with red paint

Of the 1,354 items for sale during BigIron’s Sept. 4 auction, buyers spent the most amount of green on red equipment.

Four of the five pieces of equipment with the highest sale prices were Case IH combines.

A 2022 Case IH 9250 2WD combine sold for the highest price during the sale.

The combine from Humphrey, Neb., with 449.5 engine hours and 335.8 separator hours sold for US$300,250 (CAD$407,530) to a buyer from the same state after 357 bids.

A 2020 Case IH 8250 2WD combine from Humphrey, Neb., sold for US$241,250 (CAD$327,462) to a buyer from the same state after 421 bids.

A 2019 Case IH 8250 2WD track combine from Atkinson, Neb., sold for US$207,000 (CAD$280,977) to a buyer from Colorado after 141 bids.

A 2021 New Holland CR8.90 2WD combine from Atkinson, Neb., sold for US$191,750 (CAD$260,279) to a buyer from the same state after 210 bids.

A 2016 Case IH 7240 2WD track combine from Humphrey, Neb., sold for US$150,750 (CAD$204,560) to a buyer from the same state after 250 bids.

Meet Willy: California Farm Bureau’s 2025 Farm Dog of the Year!

We’re excited to introduce Willy, a miniature long-haired dachshund with a big heart and even bigger courage, and the Grand Prize winner of this year’s Farm Dog of the Year Contest!

Willy may be small, but he’s become an indispensable partner on owner Marshal Hagedorn’s forestry and cattle operations in Shasta, Tehama, and Siskiyou counties. Adopted in 2023, he quickly found his place on the ranch, helping manage critters, tagging along for long days in the woods, and offering unwavering companionship during demanding logging work.

Willy has even taken naturally to moving cattle, surprising calves (and more than a few full-grown cows!) with his burst of energy from the tall grass. As Marshal put it: “He goes with me everywhere every single day.”

Congratulations to Willy and his family, a perfect example of how every good farm dog, no matter the size, helps keep California agriculture running strong.
