New crop protection products cleared with no export market risks for 2026

The Market Access Committee for corn and soybeans has completed its 2026 review of new crop protection products, confirming no export concerns for four corn products and six soybean products.

Approved corn products include Covintro Corn, Telarone DC, Zidua SC Herbicide, and Storen Herbicide. Approved soybean products include Victrato, Elatus Era A and B, Telaron DC, Centurion ADV, and Veltyma.

Since its start in 2021, the Committee has assessed 33 new crop protection products, recommending them for use without restrictions.

Every year, the Committee evaluates products to ensure compliance with international market rules and prevent trade risks for Canadian farmers. It also monitors seed technologies and biotech traits in key export markets to maintain smooth access for Canadian corn and soybean exports.

The Committee is co-chaired by Winston van Staveren, director with Soy Canada, and Paul Hoekstra, vice president of Strategic Development with Grain Farmers of Ontario.

Members include representatives from grain handling, exporting organizations, farmers, and life science companies across Quebec, Ontario, and Western Canada. Their goal is to minimize risks and support the predictable use of crop protection products.

Market access is crucial, as over 70% of Canadian soybeans are exported each year. In Ontario, a large portion of soybeans and corn is shipped to global markets, making compliance with international pesticide rules essential.

The Committee uses the “Market Acceptance of Pesticide Use Policy,” which compares maximum residue limits (MRLs) of crop protection products against the standards of importing countries.

For the 2026 season, corn products reviewed include one new active ingredient and three with existing ingredients, while soybeans include one new active ingredient and five new formulations. All products meet market access requirements, so no advisories are needed.

This review ensures Canadian farmers can use these products confidently, protecting exports and supporting safe, sustainable crop production.
