New products help improve water efficiency and boost drought resilience
As drought conditions continue to challenge agricultural regions, growers are looking for effective ways to use limited water supplies more efficiently. To support farmers facing irrigation restrictions and water shortages, Diamond K Gypsum has introduced a new range of water management products designed to improve soil performance and crop resilience.
The company's latest offerings focus on improving how water moves through the soil and how crops respond to drought stress. These products are designed to help farmers make better use of available irrigation water while supporting healthier crop development.
One of the new products, Aqua-Drive Elite, helps water move more effectively into the soil by reducing surface tension. This allows irrigation of water and rainfall to penetrate deeper into the root zone rather than being lost through runoff or evaporation. Benefits include faster water penetration, improved moisture distribution, reduced dry spots, and less water pooling on the soil surface.
Diamond K Bio Algae is another new solution aimed at strengthening plant and soil health. Made from beneficial algae compounds, the product supports root growth, encourages microbial activity, and improves carbon cycling in the soil. It is designed to promote deeper roots, larger root systems, and greater tolerance to environmental stress, helping crops withstand dry conditions more effectively.
"Western crop consultants and growers know there is no silver bullet when it comes to water shortages," said Tom Tankersley, Diamond K Gypsum director of sales. "Instead, integrated programs that address both water and soil chemistry, physics and soil biology offer the best solutions. Growers who focus on improving infiltration, retention and root efficiency are in a much better position to protect yield when irrigation water is restricted."
The company has also introduced Aqua-Drive Elite Bio, which combines water management and soil health benefits into a single application. According to research conducted at the University of California, Bermuda grass treated with the product showed no visible signs of decline despite receiving 40% less irrigation water during a five-month water deficit trial.
The product is designed to improve water infiltration, boost root growth, increase soil microbial activity, and support crop performance under drought conditions.
Diamond K officials say there is no single solution to water shortages. Instead, successful drought management requires an integrated approach that improves water infiltration, moisture retention, root efficiency, and overall soil health.
