The 11th annual scholarship program highlights emerging talent in animal science, nutrition, and veterinary medicine.

Lallemand Animal Nutrition has announced the recipients of its 2025 scholarship program, awarding a total of $14,000 to five undergraduate and graduate students pursuing careers in animal science, nutrition, and veterinary medicine.

Now in its 11th year, the program recognizes students whose academic achievements and leadership demonstrate strong potential to advance the future of animal agriculture.

Since its inception, the Lallemand Animal Nutrition Scholarship Program has provided more than $140,000 to students across the United States and Canada. The company says the investment reflects its commitment to supporting the next generation of scientific and industry leaders.

“Each of these students represents the talent and commitment needed to move animal agriculture forward,” said Jeff Ast, Commercial Director for North and South America at Lallemand Animal Nutrition. “Supporting students at every stage of their education helps strengthen the future workforce and accelerate innovation across the industry. The future is in good hands.”

Undergraduate Scholarship Recipients:

  • Wyatt Dooley, a Kansas State University student originally from Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming, received a $2,500 scholarship. Dooley is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in animal science and industry with a focus on swine nutrition and applied research. Active in campus leadership, he has served as president of the Block & Bridle club, a peer mentor, and a member of the horse judging team. Reflecting on his interest in microbial solutions, Dooley said, "The smallest organisms on earth often hold the biggest potential for change."
  • Brianna Meyer, a junior studying dairy science at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, also received a $2,500 scholarship. Meyer has earned leadership honors in Holstein and Brown Swiss youth programs and contributes to serotonin and lactation research under Dr. Laura Hernandez. She said, "Partnering in microbial solutions is about collaborating and embracing innovation," noting how her upbringing on a family dairy farm shaped her scientific perspective.

Graduate Scholarship Recipients:

  • Kylie Konyn, a third-generation dairy farmer from San Diego, California, is pursuing a master’s degree in animal science at Cornell University and was awarded $3,000. Her research focuses on transition dairy cow health and nutrition, blending hands-on farm experience with advanced scientific study. Konyn said, "I don't just see science; I see a vision of progress, responsibility, and hope," emphasizing how microbial solutions translate research into practical tools for producers.
  • Saroj Khatiwada, a doctoral candidate at The Ohio State University specializing in probiotic-based interventions for viral infections in turkeys, also received $3,000. Originally from Hetaunda, Nepal, Khatiwada has founded the American Association of Avian Pathologists student chapter and serves as a peer reviewer for Poultry Science. He stated, "Large changes in sustainable agricultural solutions need a partnered approach to be effective worldwide."

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Recipient:

  • Noah Larson, a third-year veterinary student at Kansas State University and a commissioned U.S. Army officer through the Health Professions Scholarship Program, received $3,000. Focused on food-animal medicine, Larson aims to provide veterinary services globally to support animal health and public well-being. He said, "Partnering in microbial solutions for a changing world means using science and collaboration to address challenges in animal health, food safety, and sustainability."

Lallemand Animal Nutrition said the scholarship program is designed to recognize students who demonstrate strong academic performance, leadership, and a commitment to advancing the agricultural industry.

Lallemand Animal Nutrition, a Canadian company, is a global leader in the science of fermentation and a primary producer of yeast and bacteria. It seeks to harness microorganisms to improve performance and maintain animal health, optimize forage management, and the animal microbial environment.
