Ontario Pork also thanks the retiring Eric Schwindt and Arno Schober for their years of service and leadership.

Ontario Pork, an association representing the 1,898 pork farms that market 5.9 million hogs in the province, has announced its new board lineup for 2025.

As a Guelph, Ontario-headquartered organization, Ontario Pork is engaged in the areas of research, government representation, environmental issues, consumer education, food quality assurance, and more.

Tara Terpstra, a pork producer from Huron County, has been acclaimed as Chair of the Board for a second consecutive year. Joining her in leadership is newly elected Vice Chair TJ Murray, a producer from Oxford County. Both bring extensive on-farm experience and a deep commitment to advancing Ontario’s pork sector.

“We want to continue strengthening collaborations developed last year; this is crucial for making our voice heard,” stated Terpstra. “Serving as Chair offers a unique chance to advance the needs of pork producers. As part of this effort, the Board has begun developing a new strategic plan—shaped by input from last year’s policy day—to set clear priorities and ensure we continue delivering strong value to our members.”

New Vice Chair Murray works full-time on his family’s pig farm in Oxford County and is a volunteer firefighter. Murray brings a strong interest in business risk management and is committed to encouraging the next generation of producers to get involved and help shape the future of the industry.

The Ontario Pork Board also welcomes two new directors: Cassandra Van Engelen, elected as a board member-at-large, and Charlie Illick, representing Zone 3.

They join other board members, including Bruce Hudson, Karen Sanders, Tanya Terpstra, Philip Van Raay, and Jolanda Vandenbroek.

The organization also extends its thanks to Eric Schwindt and Arno Schober, who have retired from the Ontario Pork Board. Their years of dedicated service and leadership have contributed significantly to the organization’s success. We wish them all the best in their future endeavours.
