Boost Harvest Efficiency with Advanced Autonomous Grain Cart Technology

PTx Trimble is introducing an innovation called OutRun, an autonomous grain cart solution.

Available in 2025, this autonomous solution is designed to solve common labor shortages during harvest. OutRun allows farmers to efficiently transport grain, shortening harvest windows and reducing significant crop losses.

Dinen Subramaniam, OutRun’s senior product manager, explained that in the Midwest, 33% of acres are harvested late, leading to a 10% yield reduction.

This loss can cost farmers tens or even hundreds of thousands of dollars. As we all know, labor shortages often contribute to delays during harvest, making it challenging to find help when it’s needed most.

OutRun addresses this issue by automating grain cart operations, ensuring you can continue harvesting without delays caused by manual grain transportation.

OutRun currently supports John Deere 8R and 8000R tractors with IVT, with future compatibility planned for other brands. This flexibility makes the technology suitable for mixed fleet operations, catering to farms of various sizes.

Farmers can partner with PTx Trimble dealerships for setup and installation, which typically takes only one to one-and-a-half days.

With a flexible pricing model, you only pay when they use the autonomous grain cart, making it an affordable solution for operations.

According to PTx Trimble, OutRun delivers a positive return on investment (ROI) within the first couple of years. By helping you harvest efficiently and on time, it significantly reduces crop losses and brings more revenue back into your operations.

OutRun not only solves labor shortages but also allows you to use your existing workforce more effectively. It ensures grain transport runs smoothly, even when help is limited.

With advanced technology, quick installation, and flexible costs, OutRun is a practical solution for modern farming operations.
