Program boosts eco-friendly soybean farming

In a significant step towards sustainable agriculture, Scoular has teamed up with the USDA to incentivize soybean farmers to implement climate-smart farming techniques.

Through the Partnerships for Climate-Smart Commodities program, Scoular aims to enhance the adoption of practices that promote soil health and reduce environmental impact.

Eric Kresin, a key figure at Scoular, emphasized the importance of the initiative - "Sustainability is important for our company and is crucial for the agriculture industry. We are excited we can support producers in their sustainability efforts." This statement reflects the company's commitment to both agricultural innovation and environmental responsibility.

The program offers financial rewards for adopting methods such as no-till farming, cover cropping, and advanced nutrient management, with incentives up to $110 per acre.

These practices not only contribute to reducing carbon emissions but also to improving the overall quality and traceability of soybeans within the food-grade market.

Scoular’s recent processing of Climate-Smart soybeans at its Illinois facility highlights the practical implementation of these sustainable practices.

This initiative not only supports the farmers economically but also plays a crucial role in transforming the agriculture sector towards a more sustainable future, benefiting both the environment and the agricultural community.
