The Alberta Pork Congress is June 9

Upcoming farm shows in Western Canada provide farmers with opportunities to network and engage with peers in the ag community.

Here are some industry events producers can look forward to.

Pioneer Acres Museum is hosting its Spring Tractor Pull on May 23 and 24 in Irricana, Alta.

Equipment enthusiasts can register to participate in the pulls or simply admire the tractors and speak with their owners.

The event will have two divisions.

Tractors from before 1960 will be in the antique division, and tractors built from 1960 to 1965 are in the classic division.

May 23 is for the serious competitors while May 24 is geared towards newcomers and those looking for some extra practice reps.

The Alberta Pork Congress takes place June 10 and 11 at Westerner Park in Red Deer, Alta.

On June 10, the tradeshow is open from 9am to 4:30pm.

Wednesday lunch tickets are available for $35.

A reception takes place from 5:30pm to 6:30pm, and a banquet and industry awards ceremony kicks off at 6:30pm.

The awards banquet is also a ticketed event at $75.

Four awards will be handed out to members of Alberta’s pork industry:

  • The Rising Star Award celebrates a newcomer with fewer than five years of experience in the sector.
  • The Lifetime Achievement Award honours people who’ve demonstrated long-term commitments to Alberta pork.
  • The Farm Team Award is a shared award for staff who work cohesively to help a farm succeed.
  • And the Pork Industry Ambassador Award puts a spotlight on people and companies who go above and beyond to promote and celebrate Alberta’s pork industry.

The show wraps up on June 11 with tradeshow hours of 9:00am to 2:00pm with lunch scheduled for 1:30pm.

Lunch tickets for Thursday are $40.

On June 10 and 11 at the Delta Saskatoon Downtown is the Agricultural Manufacturers of Canada’s annual convention and trade show.

The event will have a central theme.

“UNITE is both our theme and out call to action: a recognition that our greatest strength lies in collaboration, connection, and collective leadership,” the event website says.

The two-day show will feature multiple exhibitors, guest speakers, and tours.

June 10, for example, includes a tour of the Prairie Machine facility in Saskatoon.

While there, visitors will walk the production floor and see how the company transforms raw materials into modern mining equipment.

Speaker presentation topics during the show include the merger of ag equipment and AI, and how stakeholders can turn manufacturing data into real-time action.
