Alberta Pork introduces 2023 directors

Alberta Pork welcomes Steven Waldner and Marcel Rupert to the board of directors, following the nomination process that began in December 2022 and finished on January 20, 2023.

Our sincere appreciation to director Martin Waldner for his dedication and contributions over his two terms of service, which will end after our upcoming semi-annual meetings.

Two Director-at-Large positions were available this year, open to all eligible registered producers. As only two nominations were received by the deadline, Steven and Marcel were elected by acclamation. They will begin their upcoming three-year terms following Alberta Pork’s semi-annual meetings, taking place in March 2023.

Steven is the hog boss for Fairlane Colony near Skiff – southeast of Lethbridge – a 380-sow, farrow-to-finish operation. Steven cares deeply for independent farmers and wants to help build up the hog industry to continue producing safe, delicious pork to feed the world.

Marcel is a partner with Rupert/Lansink Farms near Three Hills – northwest of Drumheller – a 850-sow, farrow-to-finish operation. This will be Marcel’s second consecutive term as a director.
