At Ag in Motion, AEM Brings Agriculture Innovation and Policy Priorities to Life

AEM brought high-ranking Canadian government officials and agriculture media together with leading equipment manufacturers at Ag in Motion, near Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, for a series of policy and media tours highlighting the innovation shaping the future of Canadian agriculture. 

Held at Western Canada’s largest outdoor farm expo, the tours gave policymakers and reporters a firsthand look at the technologies helping farmers and ranchers improve productivity, manage costs, and strengthen the competitiveness of Canada’s agricultural sector. AEM staff were on site to connect officials and media with AEM member companies exhibiting across the 100 acres of trade show space. 

“Ag in Motion is a great opportunity to show how modern equipment is helping farmers and ranchers respond to real pressures in the field,” said Alexandre Mattard-Michaud, AEM’s director of government affairs for Canada. “Canadian producers are facing higher input costs, labor shortages, weather volatility, trade uncertainty, and pressure to produce more with fewer resources. The technology on display at the farm expo demonstrate how manufacturers are helping them improve productivity, reduce waste, increase uptime, and make more informed decisions.” 

Held on July 21, AEM’s policy tour included senior Saskatchewan government officials such as Raynelle Wilson, deputy minister to the premier of Saskatchewan, and Amy Standish and Brady Pollock, assistant deputy ministers with the Government of Saskatchewan.

What insect threats are Minnesota corn growers facing, and what research is helping farmers stay ahead of them?

At the 2026 MN Ag Expo, University of Minnesota entomologist Fei Yang shared updates on three Minnesota Corn-supported research projects focused on insect monitoring, seed treatments, and pest resistance.

Current work includes statewide monitoring programs that use pheromone, light, and sticky traps to track key pests such as black cutworm, true armyworm, corn earworm, European corn borer, and corn rootworm. Researchers are also evaluating whether high-rate seed treatments provide effective corn rootworm control and studying the development of resistance in European corn borer populations to Bt corn traits.

These projects help researchers better understand pest pressures across Minnesota and provide farmers with practical information to support informed management decisions.
