TerraTrap GS Wins Top 10 New Product at World Ag Expo
The TerraTrap GS is a humane, non-toxic, multi-kill ground squirrel control system developed by experienced pest-control professionals in California.
Designed specifically to manage both California Ground Squirrels and Richardson Ground Squirrels, the system has demonstrated significantly higher approach and strike rates than exposed or artificial-looking traps.
At the heart of the TerraTrap GS is a CO2-powered, self-resetting kill mechanism capable of delivering up to 18 instant, humane kills from a single cartridge.
After each activation, the unit automatically resets and releases the animal, allowing natural scavengers to remove it from the area. This hands-free design supports continuous operation without frequent servicing.
The TerraTrap Ground Squirrel Kit, produced by Automatic Trap Company, was recognized as one of the Top 10 winners in the 2026 World Ag Expo Top 10 New Products Contest, sponsored by the F3 Initiative and was featured at the show.
A key advantage of the TerraTrap is its natural, low-profile housing, which blends into outdoor environments and encourages squirrel entry. Inside the enclosure is the Goodnature A18 Squirrel Trap, an award-winning device known for its efficiency and innovative self-resetting design. The combination of the A18 mechanism and the TerraTrap housing greatly enhances effectiveness against ground squirrel populations.
Wildlife scavenging plays an important role in the system’s functionality. Once a squirrel is dispatched, the non-toxic design allows scavengers such as foxes, coyotes, birds of prey, and other wildlife to safely consume the remains, eliminating the risk of secondary poisoning associated with rodenticides.
This approach also reduces maintenance, allowing traps to be checked weekly or even monthly, resulting in substantial labor savings for agricultural, landscaping, and facilities management operations.
