Canada's major railways see mixed results in Week 28 grain shipments: Ag Transport Coalition

The Ag Transport Coalition reports Week 28 saw a modest uptick in system performance, stemming three consecutive weeks of decline.

CN and CPKC Rail combined, supplied 78% of hopper cars ordered, up slightly from 76% in week 27.

This represents the second worst performance seen thus far this year, equalling the performance seen in week 5.

System performance remains below the 90% performance threshold for a fourth straight week and below the 80% threshold for a third consecutive week.

In supplying 88% of cars ordered by shippers in week 28, CN saw performance improve significantly from the 78% order fulfillment performance seen in week 27.

CN performance remains below the 90% threshold for a fourth straight week and for the fifth time in the last six weeks.

In supplying 68% of shipper orders, CPKC saw performance decline for a third consecutive week and lower than the 75% order fulfillment performance seen in week 27.

This represents the worst performance of the year for CPKC, a mark they have now set in two consecutive weeks.

CPKC performance remains below the 90% performance threshold for a third consecutive week.
