Canadian Research Points to New Feeding Strategies to Reduce Antibiotic Use in Weaned Piglets

As the swine industry continues to reduce reliance on antibiotics while maintaining pig health and performance, Canadian researchers are uncovering promising nutritional strategies that could help producers better manage one of the most challenging periods in a pig’s life—the transition through weaning.

Researchers involved in a Swine Cluster 3 project supported through Swine Innovation Porc’s Pork Research Hub have identified several feed-based approaches that may help reduce post-weaning diarrhea caused by Salmonella, while also advancing new methods to monitor pig health through biomarkers.
