Canola Council Aims To Improve Yields

The Canola Council of Canada (CCC) has a strategic plan with a goal to increase average canola yield in western Canada to 52 bushels by the year 2025, to help supply a growing population while maintaining profits.

Canola Council Agronomist Nicole Philp says the plan is not so much about increasing acres, but rather making their current acres more productive.

"So it's taking a look at things like stand establishment and making sure that what you seed into the ground is going to be as productive as possible," she explained. "It's things about managing fertilizer, managing your genetics, harvest management and preventing losses."
