The Canola Council of Canada’s (CCC) board of directors has named Kevin Wright as chair. Wright is General Manager Great Lakes Region with ADM. Wright succeeds Tessa Ritter, who completed her two-year term as chair.
“On behalf of the board, I’d like to thank Tessa Ritter for her service as our board chair, and our other outgoing directors Charles Fossay and Loralee Orr for their dedication to our industry,” says Wright. “I also want to acknowledge vice chair Dean Roberts for his leadership and contributions. We also warmly welcome three new directors as we continue to partner across the value chain and work to grow the value and profitability of Canadian canola.”
New to the CCC board of directors for 2026/27 are:
- Jackie Dudgeon-MacDonald, Manitoba Canola Growers, nominated by grower associations
- Wade Stocker, BASF, nominated by life science companies
- Aaron Anderson, Richardson International, director-at-large, nominated by the CCC board
At the CCC annual general meeting held yesterday, president & CEO Chris Davison presented the organization’s 2025 Annual Report: Canola Forward, Together. The report highlights how partnership across the Canadian canola value chain helped advance priority work amid shifting trade dynamics, evolving policy frameworks and increased complexity.
“2025 was a year that reminded us just how quickly the environment around us can change,” says Davison. “But it also reinforced something this industry does exceptionally well: working together across the value chain. Our members’ commitment and collaboration helped move key work forward and positioned us to build purposefully for what comes next.”
The 2025 Annual Report outlines key areas of activity and progress including:
- Collaborating across the value chain to take action on production challenges through research, tools and knowledge exchange
- Advancing research priorities to support the growth and resilience of Canadian canola
- Advocating for stable, open trade and market access for Canadian canola seed, meal and oil
- Supporting biofuels market demand by engaging on policies and frameworks that influence Canadian canola’s competitiveness
- Strengthening demand in priority markets through technical engagement and evidence-based communications on canola’s value in food and feed
