Canola Quickly Passing Through Bloom Stage

It's been a good year so far for Manitoba's canola crop.

Justine Cornelsen is an agronomy specialist with the Canola Council of Canada.

"We've really progressed quickly through our bloom stages, so the majority of the fields are obviously yellow right now," she said.

Cornelsen notes conditions are ideal for sclerotinia, adding farmers should be thinking about applying a foliar fungicide application.

"The humidity paired with some of these larger rainfall events and the heat, we've kind of got the perfect conditions for sclerotinia."

She adds some of the canola crop has been experiencing heat blast with the warmer temperatures that remain during the day and night.
