The Clemson University Cooperative Extension Service will host its 2026 Corn and Soybean Field Day on Thursday, July 30, at the Edisto Research and Education Center in Blackville, South Carolina.
This free event will highlight the latest research-based recommendations and production practices for South Carolina corn and soybean growers.
Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., followed by a field tour at 9 a.m. The program concludes with lunch. Pesticide and Certified Crop Adviser credits have been applied for.
“This field day gives growers an opportunity to see our research in the field and discuss it directly with the specialists conducting the work,” said Michael Plumblee, Clemson Extension corn and soybean specialist. “Our goal is to share practical information that helps producers make informed management decisions, improve profitability and prepare for challenges they may face.”
Field day presentations
- Cover crops and nematodes — Plumblee; John Mueller, nematologist and plant pathologist; and Emilee Herrington, graduate research assistant
- Late-season nitrogen applications in corn — Plumblee and James Owens, graduate research assistant
- Agronomic factors influencing soybean yield — Plumblee and Jini Justice, graduate research assistant
- Emerging herbicide technologies in soybean — Michael Marshall, weed specialist
- Herbicide and nematicide interactions in corn — Marshall.
