CWB Says New Elevator Projects Are Right On Schedule

CWB's new grain elevator south of Winnipeg near Glenlea, MB is starting to take shape.

The elevator is currently one of two new facilities being built in the province.

Gord Flaten, CWB's vice president of grain procurement, says the great weather we had in the fall gave the project a boost.

"We have begun quite a bit of our field work getting ready for winter there and we've been able to do quite a bit of work in the ground," he said. "We've installed what's called the 'boot pan' which sits quite deep into the ground and is the bottom of the actual elevator itself. We've put in all the piles for the elevator, [and] poured a foundation for the office."

Flaten notes that the other project, west of Portage at Bloom, Manitoba is a few months ahead of schedule and should be ready to take deliveries in June of 2015.
