AED’s McGuire Lends Equipment Dealer Support to E15 Passage, Talks Highway Bill in D.C. Trip

Schaumburg, Ill. — On May 13-14, AED’s President & CEO Brian P. McGuire visited Washington, D.C., for high-level meetings with lawmakers and Trump administration officials.

With the House scheduled to vote on the Nationwide Consumer and Fuel Retailer Choice Act, legislation to permit year-round E15, McGuire conveyed AED's strong support for the measure to key legislators. During meetings with leading lawmakers, including Congressman Adrian Smith (R-Neb.), co-chair of the Biofuels Caucus, and Congressman Randy Feenstra (R-Iowa), co-chair of the E15 Rural Domestic Energy Council, McGuire discussed the importance of year-round E15 for farmers and the broader agriculture sector. The legislation was approved on May 13 by a vote of 218-203 and now awaits Senate consideration.

McGuire also participated in a roundtable discussion with Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy about the urgency to enact a fully funded, multi-year surface transportation bill before the current law expires on September 30. Additionally, he met with senior advisors in the Department of Education’s Office of Career, Technical and Adult Education, to provide an update on the equipment industry’s workforce shortage and the work the AED Foundation is doing to address the situation.
