e-Emphasys Merges with CDK Global Heavy Equipment

New entity will sell and support both e-Emphasys and IntelliDealer solutions
Global enterprise software provider e-Emphasys Technologies Inc. announced it has merged with CDK Global Heavy Equipment, the heavy equipment business of CDK Global and maker of the IntelliDealer dealer management system (DMS). The combined entity will operate as e-Emphasys Technologies with headquarters in Cary, N.C and a combined global employee base of nearly 700, the company said. The terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.

In a press release announcing the merger, e-Emphasys said that it will continue to sell and support both the e-Emphasys and IntelliDealer software suites. Combined, the products are installed in approximately 4,200 dealer locations.

Jeffrey Hart, CEO of e-Emphasys, who will continue to lead the organization, said that market forces and the needs of specific vertical markets will determine the direction in which e-Emphasys takes each software solution in the future.

“From my perspective, it's all about listening to the market and going where the market needs to go,” he said. “So if the market says, ‘Hey, find a lot of value in the IntelliDealer platform,’ maybe that's a different carve out serving more of a specific vertical where maybe e-Emphasys goes after a different vertical because of the complexity or whatever that vertical might need.”

e-Emphasys is privately held and backed by two private equity firms, TA Associates (TA) and True Wind Capital.

e-Emphasys also announced that co-founder and CEO Milind Bagade and co-founder and COO Sayam Bagade have decided to retire from day-to-day operations and will serve as members of e-Emphasys’ board of directors.
