Massimo Bergamini, executive director of the Fruit and Vegetable Growers of Canada (FVGC), has announced the appointment of Dr. Erik Nielsen to the newly-created role of director of policy, research and public affairs.
Nielsen brings more than two decades of leadership experience in public policy, advocacy, and strategic communications across global development, trade, environment, and government relations. He has held senior roles at Export Development Canada, Plan International Canada, Nutrition International, and Global Affairs Canada. With a doctorate in International Environmental Policy and professional experience in 10 countries, he offers a unique blend of domestic and international insight to support Canada’s agricultural sector.
“As the voice of Canadian fruit and vegetable growers, FVGC must ensure its priorities and concerns are heard and acted on,” said Bergamini. “We’re pleased to welcome Erik to the FVGC team as his experience in policy and advocacy, along with his talent for forging strategic partnerships, will be pivotal as FVGC intensifies its efforts to deliver results for Canadian growers.”
